The Pelican 1650 Shipping Case protects gear against impact and other travel mishaps

Reusable watertight case delivers top-flight performance

The Pelican 1650 merrily rolls through extreme weather and terrains while protecting sensitive equipment and personal belongings. Reusable and resilient, the shipping and carrying case is also versatile.  Customize the interior for specific applications, such as photography or electronic components, and then hit the road with peace of mind.

Embedded wheels and a retractable handle allow travelers to glide through airports and work sites.  A durable side handle makes lifting easy.  Although the hard-shell exterior is constructed of light-weight Space Age structural resin, the field-tested case is a heavy-duty shield against turbulence, impact and other travel mishaps.  All Pelican products roll with a lifetime guarantee. 

The ample interior dimensions of the Pelican 1650 accommodate an endless list of large objects and belongings, including laptops, the Apple iPad and gear. The 1.75" lid closes on a base that is 28.88"L x 17.88"W x 8.62"H.  When empty, the carrying case is a mere 29.1 lbs.  When customized with Polyurethane layers of protective foam or padded dividers, the case weighs 35.5 lbs.

Anti-theft security is provided by stainless steel hardware and padlock protectors.  When unlocked, access is fast with ABS easy-to-open double-throw latches.

The Pelican 1650 also comes with a wide array of certifications that guarantee top-flight performance. A 0.25" (6.4 mm) o-ring seal keeps the case airtight and waterproof.  An automatic pressure equalization valve adjusts to changes in atmospheric pressure.  Buoyant up to 181 lbs, the case can survive a temperature range of -40 to 210°F.  The IP 67 rating means the unit is dust and sand proof, and can survive temporary submersion in water.  Other specs include MIL C-4150J and DEF STAN 81-41/STANAG 4280.  Finally, the 1650 is airline safe with a category ATA 300 rating, and crushproof and resistant to chemicals and solvents. 

Flexibility also makes the Pelican 1650 a smart choice.  Use the unit empty or add more protection with a D-I-Y system that allows pre-scored layers of Polyethylene Pick ’N’ Pluck foam to be fitted around equipment.  Or, to organize equipment, insert a padded divider made of durable nylon and foam.  Individual compartments can be adjusted using a hook and loop Velcro® system.
